Get into the habit of letting yourself do the things that you want to do, that you feel called to do — and do it in the moment. Right this second, because that’s where all the magic happens! You’ve got to act on impulse when your impulses are aligned with your true calling and true values.

Be Always Grateful

Life, this thing that we live in… it’s pretty amazing. Take my life as an example. I live in Hawaii, in a beautiful home. I have beautiful friends, a beautiful job. I get to do what I love. I get to be around amazing people, meet people every day, socialize, and then I have time to myself to work on what I love to do. This is what I have to work with — this is what I wake up to! Life is beautiful, but we take it for granted sometimes. It’s interesting to look back and reflect on how we do that.

We tend to almost literally forget. We lose sight of all the things that we have available to us. All the resources, how privileged we are, how convenient things are for us. We lose sight the moment we shift our direction of focus from being in a state of receivership, acknowledgment, and gratitude, to being in a state of lack of what we don’t have.

Balance Contentment and Ambition

It’s good to have a healthy balance, to see that even though you have great things now, there is always more to obtain, and there are always greater levels of experience. There are always more people you can reach out to, more people you can meet, and newer experiences. We don’t want to take that for granted by only focusing on what we have. But neither do we want to lose sight of what we have in our desire to experience greater things. So it’s important to have a healthy balance.

However, I feel that a lot of times we fall into the whole mindset of being in a state of lack. Nonetheless, it’s beautiful experiencing forgetfulness, only to come back to a state of grace. In this moment, when we’re aware, we can see it as something of the past and grow from it. We see that it’s just one way of experiencing, and that there’s a better way.

Be Fully Present

Instead, we could be here now. We could be grateful for everything that we have in our lives and also strive for greater things without losing sight of what’s here. Gratitude, I believe, is a practice we must work on.

Be Highly Aware

But I believe there are no mistakes and I think that all we need in life is awareness. We just need to be aware of what’s going on. Heightened self-awareness, aware of how I’ve been in the past, aware of how I want to be and aware of what’s here right now. Self-awareness is key. Pay attention.
